February Selection Box 2024 (Argentina)

This month we are sticking with South America and visiting Argentina, which produces wines of excellent quality and variety. We've included some bubbles in the form Los Haroldos Extra Brut which is an interesting blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Sauvignon Blanc, two much loved Evington's favourites - Chacabuco Viognier and Torrontes, two wonderful but different styles of Malbec from separate producers and a real rarity in the form of a 100% Tannat from the Quara winery up in the Cafayate Valley.

Los Haroldos Extra Brut, Argentina (12.5% Vol) Regular price £13.40

70% Chardonnay 30% Sauvignon Blanc. On the nose - citrus fruit, peaches and a hint of apple. On the palate - a soft and creamy mousse, with pleasant levels of acidity. Good with rich seafood dishes.

Chacabuco Viognier 2022 (13% Vol) Regular price £10.70
Aromas of peach and apricot with some floral notes. The palate is complex, fresh and fruit-filled with a lingering finish. Good match to food with some mild spice.

Chacabuco Torrontes 2021 (13.5% Vol) Regular price £10.70

On the nose - a character of peach and apricot. On the palate - a dry, refreshing, floral wine which has a silky mouth feel and lasting flavour. Good with spicy, Asian influenced white meat dishes.

Los Haroldos Estate Malbec 2020 (14% Vol) Regular price £13.95

Red fruits and a slight smokiness are present on the nose. On the palate there are elegant tannins and a subtle acidity that all contribute to a great finish. Excellent with pigeon or grouse.

Quara Estate Tannat, Valle de Cafayate 2020 (13.5% Vol) Regular price £12.15

Aromas of spice and red fruit lead to the palate, which is powerful and expressive, medium to full-bodied and has round tannins, with a long finish. Great with spicy lamb dishes.

Cima Blanca Malbec 2021 (13.5% Vol) Regular price £9.79

The nose shows fresh plums and blackberries, the palate is packed with black and red-berried fruit. A well-balanced wine, with a fresh finish. Very enjoyable with mature cheeses.
