Happy New Year! This month's Selection Box is all about the wonderful wine producing country of Chile. Chile has a long history of wine production, with roots dating back to the 16th century when the Spanish conquistadors introduced Vitis Vinifera vines to the region. We have compiled four varied and interesting reds and two exceptional whites, which show the diversity of the region. The first Selection Box of 2024 is available for the discounted price of £72.
Zapallares Reserva Riesling, Casablanca Valley 2019 (13% Vol) Regular price £10.95
A fresh and perfumed wine with aromas of citrus, grapefruit, apple and apricot. Crisp and fresh on the palate. Fantastic value for money.
Cordillera Reserva Especial Chardonnay, Limari Valley 2020 (13.5% Vol) 2020 Regular price £15.49
A fresh and fruity aroma dominated by peach, white plum, and grapefruit notes, with touches of toasted hazelnut. Slight minerality on the palate, with plenty of volume, elegant acidity and lasting rich fruitiness - ending with a fresh, pleasant aftertaste. Pairs well with prawn dishes or baked fish.
Vina Requingua Casa Santiago Merlot, Curico Valley 2022 (13% Vol) Regular price £9.65
Aromas of berry fruits, cassis and a touch of liquorice. This medium bodied wine offers soft tannins with abundant freshness and ripeness of fruit.
In Situ Pinot Noir Reserva 2020 (12.5% Vol) Regular price £12.55
Floral notes and red fruit on the nose. Soft and silky tannins on the palate, give this well-balanced wine an interesting complexity and a good long finish. Pairs well with salmon.
Casas del Bosque Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2018 (14% Vol) Regular price £13.20
The nose offers aromas of black cherries, raspberries, mint and tobacco. This Cabernet Sauvignon is fresh and lively, with soft and persistent tannins. Fillet of beef with horseradish is a perfect companion to this wine.
In Situ Signature Syrah, Mourvedre, Viognier 2020 (13.5% Vol) Regular price £13.59
This wine balances spice with blueberry and firm tannins. The oak brings vanilla, making for a deep and exciting palate. Goes well with casseroles.
