January Selection Box 2026 (Australia)

Happy New Year everybody! For our first Selection Box of 2026, we are visiting Australia (maybe because I'm trying to think warm thoughts!). The box includes an excellent Chardonnay, a wonderful Riesling, a very interesting blend of Touriga, Shiraz and Grenache from a top producer, a lovely Shiraz, one of the best mid range Cabernet Sauvignons we've ever tried and another great Shiraz. All for the discounted price of £79.

Victoria Park Chardonnay, South Australia 2023, 2024 (13.5% Vol)

On the nose aromas of fresh peach, honey and hints of lemon. On the palate the slightest hint of oak comes through with well-balanced fruit. This versatile wine represents great value for money and will pair well with most chicken dishes.

Yalumba Y series Riesling, South Australia 2023 (10.5% Vol)

This Riesling has aromas of blossom and rose petals, followed by hints of lime zest and apple. The palate reveals flavours of grapefruit, pineapple and green apples. A beautifully made and elegant wine.

St Hallett Gamekeeper's, Shiraz Grenache Touriga, Barossa, Australia 2017 (14% Vol)

On the nose this wine shows rich red fruit with notes of spice and clove. Stylish and flavoursome on the palate with ripe tannins. The three different grape varieties each show their own characteristics.

Cranswick Estate Shiraz, New South Wales, Australia 2021 (14.5% Vol)

On the nose - spices, dark berries and earthy aromas. The palate displays ripe blackberries and spice followed by savoury overtones, all supported by a deft touch of oak from 12 months maturation. Soft tannins round off a precise and well-made Shiraz.

Kingston Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Clare Valley, Australia 2022 (14.5% Vol)

On the nose, lifted aromas of blackcurrant, cassis and subtle stewed plum characters, along with a hint of spicy oak. The palate is elegant and full bodied revealing flavours of blackcurrant, quince and cassis fruit, enhanced by hints of mint and capsicum characters. A beautiful complex and smooth oak finish.
